Police are investigating if a car was street racing before crashing into a tree and killing two child passengers in Monterey in Sydney's south.
Emergency services were called to The Grand Parade at 9:50pm following reports a car had hit a tree.
Two boys, aged nine and 10, later died after being taken to Sydney Children's Hospital and police confirmed they were the driver's two nephews.
The driver's nine-year-old daughter survived the crash and was treated by paramedics at the scene — police said she was in a stable condition in hospital and would be interviewed soon.
