The Labour Leader Sir Keir Starmer has accused the Conservatives of trying to "smear" Angela Rayner in a continuing row over her tax affairs.

The Mail on Sunday accused the deputy Labour leader of not paying the capital gains tax they say she should have paid on a property she sold.

Ms Rayner says she did not need to pay tax on the £48,000 she made on the house sale because it was her primary residence.

The Mail says she was living with her husband a mile away.
