Russia claims it thwarted major Ukrainian offensive in Donetsk region

Russian Defence Ministry Spokesperson Igor Konashenko claimed on Monday that Moscow's military had thwarted a major offensive from Ukrainian troops in the region of Donetsk, killing hundreds, as well as repelled an attempt to cross the border into Belgorod.

While Ukraine officials have denied sending any troops into Russia, pro-Kyiv forces have reportedly crossed into Russia in the last several days — particularly Belgorod.

Regarding a speculated counter-offensive from Ukraine, the country’s foreign minister Dmytro Kuleba said during an interview Monday, “I will (only) say that we received enough of weapons after we win … because until we haven't won, there will be never enough of weapons.”
