Russia claimed on Thursday that the U.S. was behind an alleged drone attack on the Kremlin that aimed to kill President Vladimir Putin, while Moscow's forces fired more combat drones at Ukrainian cities including the capital Kyiv.

The United States fired back at Russia's allegation that it was behind the Kremlin incident, saying it was all "lies" and that it was "not involved in this incident in any way."

"I think we've been pretty clear that what Mr. Peskov says is just a blatant bald lie," White House Security Advisor John Kirby said during a press briefing on Thursday.
