Actress Cynthia Nixon has joined hunger-striking activists outside the White House in Washington DC, demanding an end to the bombardment of Gaza.

"It's a war crime. We have to stop it," the Sex and the City star told ABC News.

"We have to stop funding it with our money and we have to find a real solution, and the first step to that is a ceasefire."

The group also includes several state politicians. One of them, New York's Zohran Mamdani, said: "We are starving ourselves in front of the White House to show President [Joe] Biden the consequences of his actions."
