Tornado sweeps through Ottawa area in striking footage

A tornado touched down in the rural community of Metcalfe, Ont. on Thursday at around 7 p.m., Environment Canada confirms.

Striking footage of the twister was captured by locals as it made its way through the town, just southeast of Ottawa.

The damage was limited to the roof of a single house being torn off, though the structural integrity remained intact, Ottawa Fire Service said.
