Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was in London, Ont. on Wednesday as the city became the first in Canada to reach a deal with the federal government under the Housing Accelerator Fund.

The prime minister said home prices "cannot continue to go up," and that it's "a problem with supply. We as a country are not building enough housing, quickly. That's why this four billion dollar Accelerator Fund is designed to leverage the capacities of municipalities, to work with developers, to work with the private sector, to work with non-profit sectors."

Housing affordability is set to be a major issue in the next Canadian federal election, with Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre and NDP leader Jagmeet Singh both pitching Canadians on their vision for fixing Canada's housing crunch.
