Vermont senator Bernie Sanders has said US motor workers are 'fighting against corporate greed' in approval of the biggest auto strike in decades.
Speaking to UAW members at a rally in Detroit, Michigan, Sanders said it was reasonable for employees from the biggest US auto companies – Ford, Stellantis and General Motors – to get a 'fair share of the record-breaking profits'.
A disagreement over a new contract led to about 130,000 workers taking to the picket lines shortly after midnight on Friday:
