On Friday, over 13,000 auto workers in the US went on strike after their union leaders failed to reach an agreement on contract talks with Ford, General Motors and Stellantis. The strike began at 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, as the workers' four-year contracts expired.

Hundreds of people, including auto workers on the night shift and their supporters, gathered at a Ford assembly plant in Wayne, Michigan as members of the United Auto Workers (UAW) union walked off the job simultaneously from all three companies.

One unidentified supporter of striking workers at the plant said that it is time for the workers to be rewarded since they have been the reason why the company was able to survive the great recession and is currently making record profits.

Congresswoman Debbie Dingell also expressed her support and said, "I'm just here to support the workers.”
