CCTV shows Officer Matthew Rodriguez punching a 19-year-old man in custody and smacking his head on the floor in Detroit.

The man in custody had been arrested for "multiple felonies" and appeared to exchange words with Officer Matthew Rodriguez just before the incident.

The officer has been charged with wilful neglect of duty and assault.
