In just seven days, the U.S. government may find itself out of money to be able to pay its bills and cover its debt interest payments.

It's a situation that could result in a catastrophic economic crisis not only in the U.S. but worldwide, with the country's credit rating on the line.

As Global News' Reggie Cecchini explains, things will only get worse once the debt ceiling is reached.
