The U.S. is set to assume the presidency of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) for the first time since Russia's war on Ukraine began.

The U.S., Russia, China, the U.K. and France are the five permanent members of the UNSC’s inner circle, but that could change soon.

Jamie Maraucher reports on the U.S.'s ambitions to address growing frustration at the council's inability to manage global conflict and the chances of an overhaul realistically happening.
