Eight Syrian military personnel have been killed in an Israeli airstrike on their positions in the southwest, Syrian state media is reporting. Seven more were wounded, news agency SANA reported, citing a military source as saying Israeli "aerial aggression" targeted several positions near the city of Deraa, also causing material damage.

Meanwhile, Israel has called for UN chief Antonio Guterres to resign for saying the Hamas attack did not happen in a "vacuum" and "the Palestinian people have been subjected to 56 years of suffocating occupation".
