In India, an age-old practice of witch-hunting continues to exist. People, mostly women, living in remote villages are accused of being witches and practising black magic and are driven away from their homes, beaten up and sometimes killed.

This practice exists in states like Jharkhand, Assam, Rajasthan, Odisha, Bihar and Chhattisgarh. According to a report by the National Crime Records Bureau of India, over 1500 people were killed between 2010 and 2021 due to the accusation of practicing witch-craft.

Our correspondent Manira Chaudhary travelled to villages in Jharkhand to meet some victims.

And for more, we talk to women's rights lawyer Charu Wali Khanna.
