During an interview with former U.S. ambassador to India Kenneth Juster on Tuesday, India’s foreign minister, Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, said that India is “open” to looking into any evidence related to the murder of Sikh separatist Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Canada on June 18.

“One, we told the Canadians that this is not the government of India's policy,” said Jaishankar. “Two, we told the Canadians saying that, look, if you have something specific, if you have something relevant, you know, let us know. We are open to looking at it.”

Jaishankar’s response comes after Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau accused India of being connected Nijjar’s death, claiming there are “credible reasons” to believe Indian agents may be behind the alleged assassination.
Furthermore, Jaishankar said India has provided Canada with “a lot of information about organized crime leadership,” which he claimed operates within Canada.

“That is important in a way, too, to factor in,” the foreign minister added.
