Maritimers were prepared but glad the region avoided a worst-case scenario after post-tropical cyclone Lee hammered Canada’s East Coast on Saturday.

Thousands were still without power on Sunday, as Lee moved into the Gulf of Saint Lawrence. As of Sunday evening, Nova Scotia Power reported more than 33,000 customers were in the dark. NB Power reported over 3,000 customers without electricity.

At the peak of the storm, more than 200,000 were without power.
