Police were called to Marrickville Road in Marrickville about 1:50pm on Friday afternoon following reports of a shooting.

Officers located two men suffering from gunshot wounds.

Paramedics treated the men at the scene before transporting them to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.

"One man – aged 20 – is believed to be in a serious condition, while the other man – aged 33 – is believed to be in a stable condition," NSW Police said.

Superintendent Despa Fitzgerald from the Inner West Police Area Command said both victims were known to authorities.

"It is very brazen and that's why we believe it is obviously a targeted attack," she said.
